Angel of the Lord

from $60.00

As year 2 of quarantine was approaching in early 2021, something shifted inside me. As I sat in my studio that morning, wondering what the next year would hold for all of us, I wrote a one line prayer in my Awaken Journal; “I put my hope in Your unfailing love”. As I paused in the stillness of that morning, a larger than life angel of the Lord appeared in a vision. Left arm raised holding a large arc shield, he leaned in, pressing forward, smaller shield covering his head, as he battled in the spiritual realm. I could see the wing tips of an army of angels just behind him obscured by the light shining forth. This Angel of the Lord was to be the first in a series of angels that would appear to me, forming this series Midst of Angels.

THE STORY BEHND THE ART

Angel of the Lord was inspired by my bible journaling meditation as I read through Psalm 91:

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
He is my God, and I trust Him…
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection…
If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter...
…he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”

‘I put my hope in Your unfailing love, O LORD,’

As I reflected on the angels who protect us, I received a vision of a large shield arc rising up with a figure leaning forward, battling, wearing a shield helmet, pressing in. Edges of wings from a gathering of an angel army became visible, emerging from the shroud of light that surrounded the figure.

Christ leads the battle in the spiritual realm alongside His army of angels, what great comfort in times where we struggle, wondering, with no end in sight.
